Swallowing

Humans swallow roughly 600 times each day!  We actively swallow when eating and drinking to move food and liquid through the mouth and throat and into the esophagus.  Additionally, swallowing occurs subconsciously all day and in our sleep as our body manages up to 1.5 liters of saliva every 24 hours.  Most of us rarely if ever think about swallowing, but when trouble occurs it often affects every aspect of life.
